a lovely evening for a walk on campus! unc's old well in front of south building, seems more often than naught to capture my attention!
"the most enduring symbol of the university is the Old Well, a small neoclassical rotunda based on the Temple of Love in the Garden of Versailles, at the spot of the original well that provided water for the school."9-17-07-- Monday
I glanced quickly at this quote and thought it read:
"forever is composed of cows." and wow! what a great quote for this photo, eh?
however the real read is:
"forever is composed of nows."
-- emily dickinson
which of course, while much more aptly put has much less relevance to this pastoral scene...

"to find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter;
to be thrilled by the stars at night;
to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring
- these are some of the rewards of the simple life."

"... here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart) ..."

"at times our own light goes out
and is rekindled by a spark from another person.
each of us has cause to think
with deep gratitude of those who
have lighted the flame within us."
-- albert schweitzer8-23-07-- Thursday summer evening on the lawn at weaver street market “To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!” -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"through the fact that the matter of the butterfly's wing is imbued with colour, it is the most spiritualized of all earthly substances...
and just as we marvel at its shimmering colours as we follow it, so also can we marvel at its own fluttering joy in these colours. this is something which it is of fundamental importance to cultivate in children, this joy in the spirituality fluttering about in the air, which is in fact fluttering joy, joy in the play of colours...
