got to talking with this fellow this morning - our last morning on the beach. he agreed to let me take his picture with his 1 year old daughter.
he starts cajoling her to smile at the camera. I love her expression-
and just why should I smile at the camera?

"For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise.
... For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild.
Lord of all, to Thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise."

scattered downpours all day left me feeling blue. this photo started as greyscale shadows of glass on wood. played with saturation to bring some rainbow colours :)

"when you come to the edge of all the light
you have, and must take a step into the darkness of the unknown, believe that one of two things will happen to you:
either there will be something solid for you
to stand on, or, you will be taught how to fly."

"people often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder,'
and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty
is realizing that you are the beholder.
this empowers us to find beauty in places where others
have not dared to look, including inside ourselves."

free-spirited souls, contemplating marriage...
"... ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
but let there be spaces in your togetherness,
and let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
love one another, but make not a bond of love:
let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls...
and stand together yet not too near together:
for the pillars of the temple stand apart,
and the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow."

I didn't see the ladybug until I got home and looked more closely at the photo.
