"'tis the gift to be simple,
'tis the gift to be free,
'tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
and when we find ourselves in the place just right,
it will be in the valley of love and delight.
when true simplicity is gained,
to bow and to bend we shan't be ashamed.
to turn, turn will be our delight,
'til by turning, turning we come round right."

bringing in the hay
"the 'summer vacation' period when public schools would close was by tradition to enable farm children to assist in the family hay harvest, as well as the harvest of other crops. this tradition is entrenched to the present day, even though only a very small fraction of school-aged children today in developed countries live on livestock farms."

I got this card catalog today with my photo of BaileyBoy-snow-covered-with-pinecone on the front cover! the company purchased the image for their winter line. it has also been made into a winter holiday card. :)
quote on the card:
"of all the gifts we get or give...
the greatest of them is love! happy holidays!"

a lovely night. playing with slow shutter speed once again- this time with a tiny zoom out!
"finish each day and be done with it. you have done what you could. some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."
